At The Great Little School, the director supports each family in their individual Kindergarten search and application process. New York City is unique in so many ways that make it a wonderful place to raise children. One unique aspect of the city is the process of finding the right Kindergarten program for your child. Historically, GLS children have gone on to attend a mix of both public and independent schools. Both public and independent ongoing school options require parents to be educated on different settings, what each individual school offers, and the overall “exmissions” process. At our small and personal program the teachers and director get to know each child well, and by the time they are ready to prepare for Kindergarten, are there to advise and collaborate with families to find the best setting for their child. The director holds a general exmissions meeting each Spring, and then begins the process of partnering with each family to work towards a positive outcome for their child.
